Explaining the Moto-Lita Mark 4

The Moto-Lita Mark 4

The Moto-Lita Mark 4 is our beloved leather-rimmed wheel that still defines the look and feel of 60s and 70s sports and saloon car interiors, to this day.

Based on his wood-rimmed Mark 3, Simon Green wanted to create a leather-clad racing wheel for the road, and the Mark 4 was an instant hit with enthusiasts and manufacturers alike. Jensen, Wood and Pickett and MG were early adopters, with popularity spreading rapidly through owners of Minis, MGs, Triumphs, Lotuses and Fords.

What it's not…

  • It's not a cheap vinyl lookalike

    • We use hardwearing premium Italian cow hide from the centre of the hide to ensure sufficient stretch and checked by expert eye for imperfections

  • It's not vacuum-formed by a soulless machine

    • Moto-Lita Mk 4s are hand stitched using premium thread, giving our customers a choice of thread colour, spat format and leather, suede or Alcantara grip

  • It's not a mass-produced, cheap imitation that will only last a couple of years

    • Moto-Lita wheels have always been hand-crafted in Britain using traditional techniques. They're the real thing, the original, and if looked after correctly, will last a lifetime
